It’s not easy finding a potential trade suitor for Chris Paul given his $41.3 million salary for the upcoming NBA season. The Oklahoma City Thunder would achieve a match in the Phoenix Suns and a trade package featuring Ricky Rubio and Kelly Oubre Jr. gets it done.

The Suns would send the Thunder a combined $31.4 million in salary with Rubio ($17.0 million) and Oubre Jr. ($14.3 million)— clearing a total of roughly $9.9 million in salary cap space.

The Suns and Thunder would essentially swap 1st round picks in the 2020 NBA Draft. Oklahoma City would jump from the No. 25 spot in the order all the way up to No. 10— creating a salary difference of just under $1.8 million.
