Why the Phoenix Suns Should Do It
The only reason the Suns should trade Devin Booker is if he forces their hand. He doesn’t have much leverage, seeing as he recently signed his long term extension. But if Booker was able to force his way out of Phoenix, the Suns could do well with this offer.
In Culver, the Suns acquire the No. 6 overall pick from 2019. Johnson, 31, has notable experience with the Raptors and Heat in his career.
But the reason the Suns might entertain this trade is due to the picks. Phoenix could have any player in the draft at No. 1 overall, which would be the beginning of rebuilding without Booker. At No. 10, the Suns could add another prospect, heading into the 2020-21 season with a drastically different look.
It remains to be seen if Booker can (or would) force the Suns to trade him. But if he did, the Suns would need many picks back in return as they would’ve lost their star. This is a solid offer from the Timberwolves, headlined by the No. 1 pick.
