Why the New Orleans Pelicans Should Do It
In the report from The Athletic, it’s clear that multiple contenders have expressed interest in Jrue Holiday. That’s good news for the New Orleans Pelicans, who should be able to pick the best available offer.
In this one, New Orleans lands two veterans including a former Finals MVP in Iguodala. The Pelicans also get Nunn, the most intriguing player in the deal from Miami. By landing the No. 20 pick, New Orleans would have two first round picks.
The Pelicans own the No. 13 overall pick, and this trade would mean they’d have two 1st round picks this year. New Orleans does appear willing to trade Holiday, and this offer has multiple different aspects— a young guard, experienced veterans and a 1st round pick.
It remains to be seen if this would be the best offer New Orleans could receive, but engaging with the Heat would give them pieces to build around in addition to veteran help.
