The Rockets need a center. Badly. Drummond could come in and give Houston something it hasn’t had recently: Adequate size at center.
Houston wouldn’t be in this conversation if Mike D’Antoni still roamed the sidelines as coach, but D’Antoni’s small ball philosophy has departed. That could help lead the Rockets to turn to the Cavaliers for a trade.
If the Rockets are going to run it back with James Harden and Russell Westbrook next season, they owe it to their two superstars to add a competent center.
It remains to be seen if they could find a way to make Drummond’s deal work financially, but Drummond could help this team in the playoffs next season.
