Trade Package No. 1
This last hypothetical would see the Brooklyn Nets part with two young pieces of the core they were building before Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving arrived. It features Caris LeVert and Jarrett Allen being sent to the New Orleans Pelicans.
LeVert and Allen were big pieces for Brooklyn in years past. That’s not to say they’re not anymore, but when superstars such as Durant and Irving arrive in town, it tips the scales.
One reason the Nets could be willing to part with Allen, their 2017 first round pick, is the presence of DeAndre Jordan.
Jordan, the former Clippers star, joined Brooklyn alongside Durant and Irving prior to last season. As Durant prepares to make his Nets debut next season, Brooklyn might be inclined to play Jordan, not Allen, for a majority of minutes.
If Allen’s role is reduced under new coach Steve Nash, perhaps he could be packaged for a veteran such as Holiday.
