The New York Knicks are going to look to make an impact move or two this offseason. Russell Westbrook is a name that has been connected to the team a lot so far this offseason and many believe that the Knicks would love to pursue a trade for the Houston Rockets’ superstar.

Westbrook may or may not be available this offseason. No one truly knows what the Rockets will end up doing with both Mike D’Antoni and Daryl Morey gone. If they do look to move him, the Knicks will be at the front of the line with interest.

One NBA scout, who asked to remain anonymous, took the time to speak to NBA Analysis Network about the possibility that the Knicks could pursue Westbrook this offseason. Here is what he had to say.

“(Russell) Westbrook would be a tremendous fit with the Knicks. If I’m New York, I can’t convince a big free agent to sign, why not go all-out for a star guard? James Dolan wants a name and Westbrook makes a lot of sense for the Knicks.”

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Rockets, Westbrook had some issues co-existing with James Harden. Both players are scorers and want the ball in their hands.

He ended up averaging 27.2 points per game to go along with 7.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists. The numbers are great, but it is very unlikely that Westbrook and Harden will win a championship together. As for the Knicks, they could build exclusively around Westbrook.

No one knows what the price tag would be for Westbrook, but Kevin Knox and the No. 8 overall pick would be an obvious start. Julius Randle could also be included in a potential deal.

Expect to hear a lot of rumors surrounding Russell Westbrook this offseason. The Knicks may not end up getting him, but they would be a great fit.
