5. Jerami Grant
As the Lakers’ front office navigates the offseason, one name they need to consider is Jerami Grant. He has a player option for 2020 which will allow him to opt-out of the remainder of his deal.
The Denver Nuggets’ forward showcased his talents throughout the bubble as he helped the Nuggets reach the Western Conference Finals.
Obviously snatching Grant from the Nuggets may not be an easy task. But money talks and it’s clear that he is in line for a payday.
Grant can help the Lakers defend, push the tempo, crash the boards, and secure second-chance points. Kyle Kuzma helped the Lakers in the regular season, but was inconsistent in the playoffs.
Signing Grant in the offseason would allow the Lakers to secure an upgrade to Kuzma. Grant averaged 11.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in the postseason.
Although both Grant and Kuzma’s numbers are similar, the Denver forward does not make many mistakes on the defensive end.
