The Golden State Warriors are coming off of a 2020 season that mirrored their early 2000’s results much more than the team that made the Finals from 2015 to 2019, winning three championships.
Golden State dealt with injuries to Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant departed to Brooklyn. Initially, the Warriors rolled the dice with D’Angelo Russell in exchange for Durant, but his fit within the roster was questionable at best.
The Warriors now have Andrew Wiggins in place of Russell, and Golden State fully expects to have a healthy Curry and Thompson back next season.
Golden State’s braintrust is incredibly passionate about chasing success every season, as evidenced by their initial pursuit of Durant back in 2016.
This year, the Warriors do not have a ton of movable contracts on their roster, but there are still a few ways Golden State can improve as they prepare to re-enter contention in 2021.
