2. Gordon Hayward
The Nuggets were without Will Barton during their playoff run and his absence was certainly felt at times. Getting him back in the lineup would help, but so would adding another capable wing scorer like Gordon Hayward from the Boston Celtics.
The Nuggets would benefit from adding another pick-and-roll ball handler and isolation threat like Hayward. He’s also a versatile off-ball scorer that would thrive playing alongside Nikola Jokic — enabling Denver to have plenty of intriguing layers to its offense.
Matching salary could be difficult for the Nuggets when considering Hayward he’s set to earn roughly $34.2 million if he decides to opt-in for the final year of his contract. He does have a 15% trade kicker and that’s important to take into consideration as well.
If the Nuggets were unable to bring back Millsap, adding Hayward into the mix would enable them to go small. Having Hayward at the four spot alongside Jokic would make them a faster unit and maximize their shooting capabilities.
