NBA Free Agency 2020: 3 early ideal landing spots for Hassan Whiteside

New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are a team on the rise. Loaded with young talent at most positions, the Pelicans are in desperate need of a defensive stopper in the paint. Before the league was suspended, the Pelicans ranked 27th in points allowed, 13th in blocked shots, and 16th in rebounding.

Adding a figure such as Hassan Whiteside would be beneficial to this young core and bring back the days when Anthony Davis controlled the paint. The Pelicans are now relying on Derrick Favors, Jaxson Hayes, and Nicolo Melli with sub-par results.

The defense and offense that Whiteside will bring to the floor will open up space in the paint and wings for Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. This will also allow the backcourt of Lonzo Ball and Jrue Holiday to attack the rim more frequently.
