Reason 2. Wall is Fully Healthy Again
The 2017-18 season was a struggle for both Wall and the Wizards. Wall would miss approximately half of the season due to injury, and the Wizards’ playoff standing suffered as a result. Washington went from the fourth seed to the eighth seed. They also went from being a game away from the Eastern Conference Finals to losing in the first round. To say that Wall’s absence severely affected the Wizards would be an understatement.
However, Wall appears to be fully healthy once again, and that should mean good things for both him individually as well as for the Wizards. Wall was fully healthy for the 2016-17 season, and in many ways, it was the best year of his career. He averaged career highs in points (23.1) and assists (10.7) per game. Wall also shot well from the field, with a career-high 45.1% field goal percentage.
The Wizards benefited from Wall’s best season, as they were able to capture the East’s 4th seed by winning 49 games, the franchise’s highest win total since the 70s. Wall played in 78 of a possible 82 games that season, which proves how important his health is to the success of the team.
If John Wall can replicate his 2016-17 season, or even possibly improve upon it, awards may be in his future.
