Washington Wizards: 3 Areas That Bradley Beal Needs to Improve in 2018-19

1. Become More of a Facilitator

Coupled with averaging more points per game, Beal needs to increase his assist per game. Asking the first time All-Star to increase his assist per game may not be necessary. However, in order for the Wizkids to make it out of the Eastern Conference, the ball has to move.

Often times when Wall runs the offense the team becomes stagnant or stands still in one place. During the 6-8 week stretch without the former Kentucky Wildcat last season the ball movement was pretty fluent. On the other hand, the absences of their point guard caused Beal to do too much.

While Beal may have forced ill-advised passes and shots he did manage to average 4.5 assists per game last season. The addition of Dwight Howard will help the team on both sides of the ball. Besides Howard’s corny press conference on his journey to becoming a Wizard, the former Charlotte Hornet can really set this team up for success.

One thing that has to happen in order for this signing to pay off is making sure the big man gets his touches. The Wizards former center in Marcin Gortat often times lacked passion, aggression, and effort. Howard will be able to catch anything in the post while being able to slit the pick-and-roll.

Howard will be able to grab tough rebounds and draw the attention in the post which will create floor spacing beyond the arc. The former Houston Rocket provides the Wizkids with an athletic big who can remain on the floor and be utilized in an efficient small ball lineup. Again, Beal will have to make sure to dish the big man the rock.
