Rodney Hood, F, Free Agent
This one’s more unlikely than the previous two, considering the recent reports that Cleveland wants to re-sign him to a three-year deal. However, the restricted free agent hasn’t signed anything yet, which means that the Houston Rockets can certainly throw an offer sheet his way, albeit one that the Cavs could match instantly.
To say Hood’s stock has dipped after his time in Cleveland would be an understatement, but the 6’8” wing has all the tools to be a good role player for a team in need. For one, he’s an extremely good offensive player – forget about his short time in Cleveland.
Hood averaged 16.8 points per game for the Jazz in 39 games last season. He also shot 38.9% on seven 3-point attempts per game and showed the ability to take opponents off the dribble and finish at the rim.
With his wingspan, Hood also has the tools to become a tough defender in this league, something he’s shown glimpses of in his short career. His length can help Houston protect the paint and also disrupt shots on the perimeter. However, he’ll have to fully commit on that end to be effective, something that he didn’t show while in Cleveland.
