Iman Shumpert, F, Sacramento Kings
There are certainly question marks surrounding the former All-Rookie and 2015-16 NBA Champion. Shumpert played just 14 games last season due to a torn meniscus and, even in that small sample size, his numbers weren’t great.
However, in his last full season with Cleveland in 2016-17, he put up decent stats, averaging 7.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and shooting 36% from behind the arc. However, the real draw is his defensive prowess, and that’s why he’s carved out a respectable NBA career despite his paltry offensive output.
Shumpert is an effective defender with quick, active hands. He can make even the best ballhandlers look silly and does a fantastic job of disrupting drives at the rim.
Assuming he can get – and stay – healthy, Shumpert would be a great addition as a 3-and-D option for Houston. This is another deal that could come out of a Ryan Anderson trade and even just one year of a recovering Shumpert is a better option for this the Houston Rockets than another season of Anderson riding the bench.
