Kent Bazemore, G, Atlanta Hawks
Bazemore is another guy that has emerged as a target for Houston. The Rockets could easily trade Ryan Anderson’s terrible contract plus a first-round pick for Bazemore and nearly $8 million in cap savings.
More – or just as – importantly as the cap savings are the tools that the 29-year-old would bring to a Houston Rockets team that’s currently getting crushed because of its offseason moves. What are those tools?
Last year, Bazemore had his best year as an Atlanta Hawk. He averaged 12.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. He also shot the ball very well. His effective field goal percentage was an even 50 while his 3-point percentage was the best of his career (39.4%).
What’s even better is that he shot 42% on catch-and-shoot 3s, something he’d certainly take a lot of in Houston. That second stat is key to the Rockets, a team that’s expected to shoot 40 to 45 3s per game.
