The New York Knicks were a team that a lot of people were keeping an eye on heading into the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Unlike some of their competition in the Eastern Conference, New York didn’t tank near the end of the season trying to line up with specific opponents. They stuck to their game plan and played right to the final whistle, earning the No. 2 seed.

That resulted in a matchup against the Philadephia 76ers, who defeated the Miami Heat in the NBA Play-In Tournament. The 76ers are not your typical No. 7 seed, as they are relatively even with the Knicks in terms of talent with reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid in the lineup.

Luckily for the Knicks, they have a star of their own in point guard Jalen Brunson. He has been magnificent in the last two games of their series, putting on a masterclass of how to play offense in the NBA.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Jalen Brunson, NBA Playoffs, New York Knicks Updates

In Game 3, a 125-114 loss, Brunson scored 39 points with 13 assists. In Game 4 on Sunday, with the series hanging in the balance, Brunson helped the Knicks get a 3-1 series lead in a 97-92 victory.

Given how low-scoring the matchup was, Brunson’s productivity is that much more impressive. He scored 47 points with 10 assists while committing only one turnover. It was one of the most incredible performances in NBA Playoff history, as he made franchise history as well.

As shared by Fred Katz of The Athletic, the 47 points Brunson scored is a new postseason franchise high. The previous record was held by Bernard King, who scored 46 in a record that stood for 40 years.

Brunson is closing in on some more Knicks NBA Playoff history as well. Sunday afternoon was the fourth time in his Knicks career that he has scored at least 35 points. That puts him in a tie with all-time great Patrick Ewing for first place.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Jalen Brunson, NBA Playoffs, New York Knicks Updates

As shared in the post from KnicksMuse, Brunson has already surpassed the number of postseason wins that Carmelo Anthony had during his tenure with the team. What Brunson is accomplishing has him on track to be one of the greatest Knicks to ever step on the floor.

Multiple records could be broken during the 2024 NBA Playoffs as opponents cannot stop him, they can only hope to contain him. As he continues leading the team deeper into the postseason, his standing among the franchise greats will only keep getting better.
