It’s trade season in the NBA. Sure, the deadline is quickly approaching. Never mind the deadline. Blockbuster trade are already underway.

Most recently, the Charlotte Hornets sent Terry Rozier to the Miami Heat. Still, that wasn’t the biggest blockbuster trade that we’ve seen recently. The Toronto Raptors sent Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers.

They may not be done making moves. The Raptors received Bruce Brown in that trade. By all accounts, they’re at least considering moving him.

Could they send him to the Golden State Warriors?

NBA Trade Proposal: Golden State Warriors Land Toronto Raptors’ Bruce Brown’

Toronto Raptors Receive: G/F Andrew Wiggins, G/F Gary Payton III, 2026 First-Round Pick (GSW)

Golden State Warriors Receive: G/F Bruce Brown, F/C Chris Boucher

Who are we kidding? It’s always trade season in the NBA. Sure, there’s a deadline. Soon enough, it will pass. Do you think that will stop people from thinking about NBA trades?

After all, the offseason will be on the horizon. As 2023-24 progresses, we’ll see which teams improved after the deadline – and which didn’t. As a result, we’ll start thinking about trades that could happen in the summer.

Still, this is an especially busy time of year. Usually, teams hold out until the deadline to make their moves. This year, they seem to be getting ahead of the curve.

Should the Warriors hesitate to acquire Brown?

Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal

The Warriors have a lot of problems. To put it succinctly, they’re not very good, and they are very expensive. This deal aims to help with both issues. Moving on from Wiggins is beneficial in its own right.

Still, this is about bringing in Brown. He’s comparable to Wiggins but should be an upgrade in every way. Brown is a better shooter and defender, and he’s got better auxiliary skills as well. Brown can handle the ball and make plays in a pinch. He should be a perfect fit in the Warriors’ system.

With that said, the Warriors may value Boucher as well. He’s a flawed player, but he does offer some floor spacing and weak side shot blocking. Boucher should compete with Dario Saric for minutes.

Should the Raptors send him to the Warriors?

Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal

If moving Wiggins is a benefit for the Warriors, it must hold that acquiring him is a detriment to the Raptors. That’s true. If the Raptors don’t want to take on Wiggins’ deal, that would be understandable.

At the same time, landing an unprotected first for Brown in this market may be difficult. It’s a buyer’s market. Here, the Raptors are receiving an unprotected first-round pick for two reasons: they’re moving Brown, and they’re absorbing Wiggins’ longer deal.

Besides, Wiggins isn’t so far removed from being a quality contributor. He could be revitalized by landing on his hometown team. Still, even if he doesn’t, the rebuilding Raptors shouldn’t mind taking on his money at this cost. This is a good trade for them – and it is trade season, after all.
