Heat Land Nets’ Dorian Finney-Smith In Bold Trade Idea

Dorian Finney-Smith, Brooklyn Nets, NBA Trade Rumors

In 2023-24, we’re seeing major NBA trades ahead of the deadline. In other years, teams hold out until the last possible moment. This year, they’re getting ahead of the curve.

The Miami Heat made the most recent acquisition. This team just acquired Terry Rozier from the Charlotte Hornets. Eastern Conference rivals ought to be concerned. The Heat were already a dangerous squad, and with Rozier, they’ll be all the scarier.

They may not be done. The Heat needed a guard, but they could also use a defensive wing. This team may be a move away from completing their roster.

Could they acquire Dorian Finney-Smith from the Brooklyn Nets?

Miami Heat Receive: F Dorian Finney-Smith

With that said, it may be a quiet deadline. That was already expected. This is a buyer’s market. There are always fewer moves at the deadline in a buyer’s market.

Now, we’ve already seen some major dominos fall. These are deals that could have happened on the deadline. Should fans even leave their notifications on for February 8th?

Absolutely. Don’t curb your excitement for the deadline too much. We will see league-altering moves at the deadline – we always do.

Could this be one of them? Should the Nets take this deal

Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal

It’s a buyer’s market. We’ll see how that impacts the Nets. Most teams around the NBA fall distinctly into one of the two camps. On the other hand, we’re not sure if the Nets will buy or sell.

It feels like they ought to sell. This team is going nowhere fast. That doesn’t mean that the Nets are in deep trouble moving forward. They have a decent collection of draft capital, and they play in one of the biggest markets in the league.

Still, they’d do well to bolster those draft assets. The Nets could use more unprotected firsts if they trade for a star in the next offseason or two. Here, they’re landing a distant, unprotected first.

Should the Heat give that pick up for Finney-Smith?

Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal

The Heat were in the NBA Finals last season. This team isn’t mentioned with the league’s foremost title contenders. They should be. This group is as dangerous as anybody in the league.

This deal would make them more dangerous. Recall last year’s Finals. Aaron Gordon of the Denver Nuggets gave the Heat fits. This team is missing a versatile defensive wing who can play the 4. Martin was too small for Gordon, and Kevin Love was too slow.

Finney-Smith would have been especially helpful. Alongside Bam Adebayo, he should give the Heat one of the best defences in the NBA. Meanwhile, he’ll keep the floor spaced for the Heat as well. This is a deal to keep an eye on at the deadline – if it doesn’t happen before then.
