The Wizards would need future first-round picks beyond the 2024 NBA Draft with the potential to become lottery picks to consider parting with Kuzma.

“Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has drawn exploratory trade interest from several teams around the league, league sources told HoopsHype, and that interest could intensify with teams missing out on Pascal Siakam,” Scotto wrote in his NBA trade rumors column. “Following reports that Washington wants two first-round picks to potentially part with Kuzma, there is further clarity and caveats to that. The Wizards would need future first-round picks beyond the 2024 draft with the potential to become lottery picks to consider parting with their best player, league sources told HoopsHype.”

The Wizards signed Kuzma to a four-year, $90 million contract last offseason. Given Kuzma’s descending contract, there’s no immediate urgency for the Wizards to part with the forward, per Scotto.

Kuzma is averaging 21.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.6 blocks this season while shooting 45.4% from the field, 34.1% from beyond the arc and 78.9% from the free-throw line. He’s making $25.6 million.

The Mavericks are 24-18 on the season. They are in sixth place in the Western Conference standings. Dallas’ front office would like to pair Kuzma with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, two of the best players in the NBA.
