An NBA executive told Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports that the Miami Heat trading for Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan would be a “perfect fit.”

The Bulls are expected to trade DeRozan before the February trade deadline and the Heat are interested in acquiring the USC product.

“Of all the players out there people are floating for the Heat, they’re not close to doing anything now, but DeMar DeRozan would be the one that has legs,” one Eastern Conference executive told Heavy Sports. “He is as close to what they’re looking for as they’re going to find. Perfect fit, really.”

DeRozan is averaging 21.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists for the Bulls this season while shooting 45.6% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc and 81.3% from the free-throw line. The six-time All-Star is in the final year of his contract.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat Updates

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype spoke to an NBA executive who got brutally honest about the trade value of DeRozan, who has career averages of 21.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Toronto Raptors, San Antonio Spurs and Bulls.

“DeMar DeRozan is worth a first in this draft in the 20s since it’s a weak draft, and he’s unrestricted at the end of the season,” an NBA executive told HoopsHype. “He can be a third scorer on a winning team. I think he’s got some gas left in the tank.”

DeRozan is close friends with Heat superstar Jimmy Butler. He is also best friends with Heat point guard Kyle Lowry, although Miami would probably have to trade Lowry to acquire DeRozan.

The Heat are 0-2 in the NBA Finals in the Butler-Bam Adebayo era, which began in 2019-20. DeRozan could be the missing piece for Miami.
