According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, DeMar DeRozan is “very likely” to be traded by the Chicago Bulls.

DeRozan is in the final year of his contract. The USC product has been linked to the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers.

“DeRozan, perhaps more than any of the aforementioned players, is considered very likely to be on the move before the deadline passes,” Amick wrote. “And with good reason. … When it comes to possible destinations, the Heat and Knicks are known to be preferable to DeRozan if he winds up getting moved.”

A six-time All-Star, DeRozan is averaging 21.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists for the Bulls this season while shooting 45.6% from the field, 37.5% from 3 and 81.3% from the free-throw line. He’s making $28.6 million in 2023-24.

The Bulls are only 7-14. They have the third-worst record in the Eastern Conference. All signs point toward DeRozan and Zach LaVine getting traded before the trade deadline in February.

A future Hall of Famer, DeRozan has career averages of 21.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Toronto Raptors, San Antonio Spurs and Bulls. The 34-year-old has never been to the NBA Finals.

DeRozan only has a few more years left to compete for a title. It will be fascinating to see where the swingman lands. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype spoke to an NBA executive who was honest about the trade value of DeRozan.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls Updates

“DeMar DeRozan is worth a first in this draft in the 20s since it’s a weak draft, and he’s unrestricted at the end of the season,” an NBA executive told HoopsHype. “He can be a third scorer on a winning team. I think he’s got some gas left in the tank.”
