A new NBA trade proposal would send Jerami Grant from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Atlanta Hawks.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Blazers and Hawks:
The Portland Trail Blazers trade Jerami Grant to the Atlanta Hawks for De’Andre Hunter and a 2024 first-round pick (lottery protected, via SAC)
“If the perpetually mediocre Hawks have yet to take flight when Grant becomes trade-eligible on Jan. 15, they might view him as their missing third star,” Buckley wrote. “That’s overselling his impact a bit, but a big-wing defender who offers three-level scoring is quite valuable in the modern game. And since the Hawks are already fully financially committed to their core, it’s not like they’d have an obvious cap-space path with or without Grant any time soon.”

Grant, who becomes trade eligible on January 15, is expected to become available in trade talks before the February 2024 trade deadline, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Grant signed a five-year, $160 million contract with Portland this past offseason in free agency before Damian Lillard requested a trade. Lillard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The 29-year-old Grant is averaging 22.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists this season while shooting 44.1% from the field, 40.4% from beyond the arc and 80.0% from the free-throw line.
The Hawks could start Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Grant and Clint Capela if Atlanta’s front office figured out a way to acquire Grant from Portland.

Grant has career averages of 12.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists with the Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and Blazers.
