Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson finally scored 20 points in a game this season. The All-Star dropped 20 points on the dot against the Houston Rockets and talked about snapping out of his scoring drought after the game.

Thompson shot 7-of-16 from the field, 5-of-11 from beyond the arc and 1-of-1 from the free-throw line against the Rockets. The Warriors won by five points to snap their six-game losing streak. They are now 7-8 on the season.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors Updates

Thompson is averaging 14.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 14 games this season while shooting 40.3% overall, 34.3% from 3 and 87.5% from the foul line. The four-time champion is having his worst scoring season since his rookie year when he averaged 12.5 points.

For the Warriors to become contenders again, Thompson has to play better. The future Hall of Famer told reporters that Chris Paul played a big role in his breakout game versus the Rockets.

“I actually watched the ‘Redeem Team’ documentary last night, and it was cool to see a young Chris get kind of rookie hazed by his teammates,” Thompson said. “For him to still be here just balling is insane. Makes me respect him so much … It makes your job as a shooting guard so much easier when you have one of the greatest passers to ever play orchestrating out there.”

The Warriors still have a lot of work to do. They barely beat a Rockets team that was on the second night of a back-to-back. However, for one night, Thompson showed flashes of his old self and everyone in Golden State was happy to see that.
