One NBA writer is proposing that the Memphis Grizzlies trade for Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby in a realistic deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Grizzlies and Raptors:
Memphis Grizzlies receive: OG Anunoby and Otto Porter Jr.
Toronto Raptors receive: Ziaire Williams, Brandon Clarke, Jake LaRavia, Kenneth Lofton Jr., 2024 first-round pick, 2026 first-round pick and 2028 first-round pick (top-three protected)
The Grizzlies started the season 0-6 before finally picking up their first win on November 5 against the Portland Trail Blazers. Superstar point guard Ja Morant won’t play until late December due to his suspension, so Buckley thinks the Grizzlies should trade for Anunoby.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: OG Anunoby, Memphis Grizzlies Updates
Memphis could start Marcus Smart, Desmond Bane, Anunoby, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Bismack Biyombo if the Grizzlies’ front office figured out a way to acquire Anunoby from the Raptors. Morant, Smart, Bane, Anunoby and Jackson Jr. would be the starting lineup once Morant returned.
One of the best two-way players in the NBA, Anunoby is averaging 16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals for the Raptors this season while shooting 55.9% from the field, 42.5% from beyond the arc and 44.4% from the free-throw line.
Anunoby led the NBA in steals per game last season and made the All-Defensive second team. He won the 2019 championship with the Raptors and is looking for greater ball-handling opportunities that can result in a commensurate salary increase, according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
