While the Philadelphia 76ers are expected to try to use the assets they acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in the James Harden trade to make another deal for a star player, NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype is reporting that Karl-Anthony Towns, Pascal Siakam and Jerami Grant are three players the Sixers will likely not pursue.

“Karl-Anthony Towns? I’ve heard he’s not a great fit in Philadelphia alongside Joel Embiid because they’ve seen how the two-big-man system has worked in Minnesota, and they aren’t in love with the idea of that pairing (Towns and Embiid),” Scotto wrote in his NBA trade column. “Pascal Siakam has heard his name in trade rumors over the summer, but I don’t gather he’s a target the Sixers are looking at currently.

“The last player I brainstormed about was Jerami Grant, who’s also been mentioned as a name to watch with Portland in a rebuild mode, but I’m told Philadelphia doesn’t see him as an ideal trade target.”

The Sixers acquired Marcus Morris, Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington and Kenyon Martin Jr. from the Clippers in the Harden trade. As part of the trade, the Clippers also dealt a first-round pick, two second-round picks, a pick swap and cash considerations to the Sixers.

Philadelphia projects to have $55.7 million in cap space available next offseason. The team has seven first-round draft picks from 2024 to 2029 that they can package in a deal with the return from the Harden trade.

Towns, Siakam and Grant have each been in trade rumors for the past few months. However, it doesn’t look like the Sixers will go after them. Most people around the NBA expect Philadelphia to pursue Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, OG Anunoby and Donovan Mitchell.
