One NBA writer is proposing that the Los Angeles Clippers make a trade with the Washington Wizards centered around Tyus Jones. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Clippers and Wizards:
The Los Angeles Clippers trade Robert Covington, Bones Hyland, Brandon Boston Jr. and a 2024 second-round pick (via TOR) to the Washington Wizards for Tyus Jones
Jones averaged 10.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists for the Memphis Grizzlies last season while shooting 43.8% from the floor, 37.1% from beyond the arc and 80.0% from the free-throw line. The Duke product was traded by the Grizzlies to the Wizards in the offseason.

Jones, 27, has career NBA averages of 6.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Grizzlies. Buckley thinks the Clippers, who tried to get Jrue Holiday and are interested in acquiring James Harden, could benefit from adding Jones.
“If the Clippers are still jonesing for a primary playmaker, why not make a run at Jones? He isn’t the scoring threat Harden is, but he might be a better game manager, at least in terms of minimizing mistakes (career 10.4 turnover percentage to Harden’s 15.6),” Buckley wrote in his NBA trade column.”
Jones is one of the best passers in the NBA. He has 2,108 assists and only 400 turnovers in 535 games in his career.
The Clippers, who lost to the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games, could start Jones, Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Ivica Zubac if Los Angeles’ front office figured out a way to acquire Jones from Washington.

The Wizards are in rebuild mode after trading Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis, so they may be open to moving Jones for the right price.
