As we get closer to the start of training camp in the NBA, rumors continue to fly around Damian Lillard.
One of the most-talked-about names this offseason has been Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers. Lillard is one of the best guards in the NBA and is capable of changing the landscape of the league if he moves teams to a contender.
With the Trail Blazers, Lillard has seen a lot of success individually but was never able to reach the NBA Finals with his team. So far this offseason, Lillard has been closely linked to the Miami Heat mostly.
The Heat and Lillard appear to be a nice match, as he would be able to team up with Jimmy Butler. Due to the Heat making the NBA Finals last season, that certainly makes it appealing for Lillard to want to go there with his desire to win.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers & Miami Heat Updates
While there seems to be a mutual interest between Lillard and the Heat, the Heat and the Trail Blazers haven’t got a deal done as of now. With the season quickly approaching, it now appears like other teams are becoming interested in Lillard
For the Trail Blazers, engaging with teams besides the Heat certainly makes sense. By doing so, at the very least, the Trail Blazers should be able to increase the package they get back for Lillard. Since Lillard is such a great talent, the Trail Blazers have to be careful with what they get back in return.
A package for Lillard should bring back a strong NBA player right now and multiple future first-round picks. After seeing the deal the Suns made to get Kevin Durant, the Trail Blazers are likely looking for a similar package.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers & Miami Heat Updates
It will be interesting to see if some of the teams become known who are going after Lillard. In the Eastern Conference alone, the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers could be potential options as a trade partner. However, we will have to wait and see what the future holds for Lillard.
