One NBA writer is proposing that the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers make a bold trade centered around Alec Burks and Isaac Okoro. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Pistons and Cavaliers:

“Bojan Bogdanovic might be the most obvious candidate, but Detroit could get decent mileage out of a Burks trade, too,” Buckley wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “His shooting, defense, experience and ball-handling are elements that could help out a winning team; the Pistons just don’t happen to be one yet. There could be some merit in picking up a seemingly stalled prospect like Okoro and seeing if a scenery change might get the 2020 No. 5 overall pick going. He is a dominant defender with the ability to finish plays around the basket.

“While Okoro’s shot is an obvious concern, it isn’t necessarily a hopeless one. After all, he’s a solid 74.9 percent free-throw shooter for his career, and he hit a respectable 35.7 percent of his threes over the past two seasons (albeit on a low volume of attempts).”
Burks appeared in 51 games for the Pistons last season. He averaged 12.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 43.6% from the field, 41.4% from beyond the arc and 81.4% from the free-throw line. The 32-year-old played 34 games for the Cavaliers during the 2018-19 NBA season.
Meanwhile, Okoro averaged 6.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 76 games for the Cavaliers in 2022-23. The 22-year-old shot 49.4% from the floor, 36.3% from 3 and 75.7% from the foul line. Cleveland drafted Okoro with the fifth pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

The Pistons won only 17 games last season, while the Cavaliers won 51. Cleveland lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2023 NBA playoffs in five games.
