The Minnesota Timberwolves look to have struck gold when they landed the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. With that pick, the Timberwolves selected shooting guard Anthony Edwards out of Georgia.
Edwards has quickly entrenched himself among the best young players in the NBA. He made his first All-Star team this past season, which helped him earn a massive five-year, $260 rookie scale max extension from the Timberwolves.
It was a deal that he certainly earned as Edwards is one of the most explosive offensive players in the NBA. He averaged a career-high 24.6 points per game this past season, helping Minnesota make the playoffs for the second year in a row.
The Georgia product has improved each season he has been in the NBA, as his scoring average and efficiency have both increased. But, to be mentioned amongst the best of the best in the NBA, you need to have an impact on both ends of the floor.

Edwards has been making strides defensively, as things always take a little longer to come together on that end of the floor. But, he has made his presence felt, as he has a nose for finding the basketball.
In the last two seasons, Edwards has recorded 105 and 125 steals to go along with 1,533 and 1,946 points. That puts him in a class all of his own during that stretch, as no other player in the NBA has recorded at least 1,500 points and 100 steals in the last two seasons.

That is quite an achievement for Edwards, who is helping set the tone and turn around a Timberwolves franchise that had made the postseason once in 16 seasons prior to his arrival. Now that he has helped turn Minnesota into a perennial playoff team, the next step is helping make them contenders.
