One NBA writer is proposing that the Milwaukee Bucks acquire Bogdan Bogdanovic from the Atlanta Hawks in a blockbuster trade.

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report proposed that the Bucks send Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton and a 2029 first-round pick to the Hawks for Bogdanovic, who almost became a member of the Bucks in 2020 when he was a restricted free agent.

“Granted, Bogdanović’s four-year, $68 million extension leaks past the two-to-three-season window in which Milwaukee is operating,” Favale wrote. “But it doesn’t shatter the piggy bank. Coughing up a 2029 first-rounder is steep, and the Bucks need to trust that both Crowder and MarJon Beauchamp are ready for regular minutes if they’re unloading Allen and Connaughton.

“When it comes down to it, though, this is the type of acquisition that can take Milwaukee from the inner circle of title contention to the standalone top of the championship pyramid.”

NBA TRADES, NEWS & RUMORS: Bogdan Bogdanovic, Atlanta Hawks & Milwaukee Bucks Updates

Bogdanovic appeared in 54 games for the Hawks last season. He averaged 14.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 44.7% from the field, 40.6% from beyond the arc and 83.1% from the free-throw line. Among 75 players to attempt as many pull-up threes, only Malcolm Brogdon, Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield drilled theirs at a higher clip than Bogdanovic did in 2022-23.

The Bucks lost to the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games. The front office re-signed Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez and Jae Crowder and signed Malik Beasley in free agency. Adding Bogdanovic could be the final piece Milwaukee needs to win its second title in the Giannis Antetokounmpo era.

NBA TRADES, NEWS & RUMORS: Bogdan Bogdanovic, Atlanta Hawks & Milwaukee Bucks Updates

Bogdanovic, 30, has career averages of 14.2 points, 3.4 boards and 3.3 assists in 370 games with the Sacramento Kings and Hawks. He signed a four-year, $68 million extension with Atlanta in March. The Hawks traded John Collins to the Utah Jazz this summer, so it will be interesting to see if they make any other trades.
