One NBA writer is proposing that the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers make a blockbuster trade centered on Zach LaVine and Tobias Harris.

Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed that the Sixers trade Harris, a 2029 first-round pick swap and a 2030 first-round pick to the Bulls for LaVine.

“Tobias Harris, who recently said ‘casual Sixers fans’ want to trade him for a Crumbl cookie, is on a $39.3 million expiring contract that could be attractive for any team looking to get out of a long-term deal or kickstart a rebuild,” Bailey wrote. “The Chicago Bulls should be interested in doing exactly that.

“Zach LaVine is a phenomenal offensive player who’s averaged 25.4 points and 4.5 assists with a 56.8 effective field-goal percentage over the last three years, but Chicago has been thoroughly mediocre with a core of him, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vučević. … This deal might lower the Sixers’ ceiling a bit defensively, and an offense-boosting move may seem unnecessary for a team that was third in points per 100 possessions last season. However, the playoffs again proved that Joel Embiid and James Harden’s foul-baiting isn’t quite as effective outside the regular season.”

The Bulls have engaged several teams on LaVine trade opportunities since the 2022-23 season ended. LaVine has appeared in 348 games with Chicago, averaging 24.5 points. However, the Bulls have won only one playoff game since acquiring LaVine from the Minnesota Timberwolves in the summer of 2017 in the blockbuster Jimmy Butler trade.

The 28-year-old LaVine averaged 24.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Bulls in 2022-23. He will make $40 million next season. Chicago missed the playoffs this year after making it in 2022, which is why some NBA execs believe the franchise could rebuild this offseason.

The Bulls want a young player with upside and multiple draft picks if they trade LaVine, who has career averages of 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists with the Timberwolves and Bulls. He’s one of the best scorers in the NBA, averaging 25.4 points over the last three seasons.
