Heat Trade For Raptors’ Pascal Siakam In Proposal

Pascal Siakam, Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat, NBA Trade Rumors

The Miami Heat just made a run to the NBA Finals. With that in mind, you’d think they’d be satisfied. Think again. This is the Miami Heat we’re tracking about. When was the last time that Pat Riley was satisfied?

By all accounts, the Heat want to significantly improve their roster this summer. In fact, they’re the heavy favorites to land Damian Lillard. Apparently, the star point guard is only interested in leaving the Portland Trail Blazers for them.

Fair enough. With that said, there are no guarantees that the Blazers will cooperate. If the Heat can’t land Lillard, could they look to other star players on the market? How about Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors?

The Trade Proposal

Toronto Raptors Receive: G Tyler Herro, F Nikola Jovic, 2028 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2029 First-Round Pick Swap (MIA)
Miami Heat Receive: F/C Pascal Siakam

Of course, there was a notable absence during the Heat’s run to the Finals. Throughout the entire playoff run, Tyler Herro was sidelined with an injury. Now, his outlook with the Heat is interesting. Do they need him?

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that they’d include him in a package to acquire Lillard. He’s one of the best offensive players in the NBA. The Heat would be fools to turn him down to keep Herro on the roster.

Still, the Finals run raises a broader question. Are the Heat better without Herro? Should they be shopping him? Should the Raptors be interested in him?

Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal

We’re not sure about the first two questions. It’s possible that Miami would have won the NBA title with Herro. Perhaps they should keep him. Let’s save that for the next section. Now, let’s assume the Heat are shopping Herro. In that event, the Raptors should absolutely be interested.

After all, this team could badly use a guard who can create his own shot in half-court sets. Herro can do that He’s a good fit with this roster right now.

His fit is even more enticing on a long-term basis. The Raptors could use a player like Herro alongside Scottie Barnes. Throw in an intriguing young prospect in Jovic, a first-round pick, and a swap, and this should be enough to have them move off of Siakam. Should the Heat want him?

Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal

Defensively, Siakam is exactly what the Heat need. In this year’s Finals, they had a dilemma at the 4 spot. Caleb Martin is a solid defender, but he’s small. Kevin Love has size, but he can be exploited on that end due to his lack of lateral mobility.

Siakam is big, and he’s quick. So, he’s a perfect fit there. How about on the offensive end? Less perfect. Siakam is an inconsistent shooter. Some will suggest that pairing him with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler is a mistake – not us.

The Heat can stagger their three stars as much as possible and have any two of them on the floor with elite shooters at all times. That could be a recipe for winning the NBA title.
