One NBA writer is proposing that the Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors make a trade centered on Bogdan Bogdanovic and Pascal Siakam.
Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed that the Hawks trade Bogdanovic, De’Andre Hunter, a 2024 lottery-protected first-round pick and a 2029 top-five protected first-round pick to the Raptors for Siakam.
The Hawks have been trying to acquire Siakam all summer, league sources told NBA Analysis Network. They want to pair the All-Star with Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.
“This trade is mostly about the picks for Toronto, though,” Bailey wrote. “Getting two first-rounders for Siakam’s expiring contract is good value. He’ll turn 30 this season and hasn’t had an above-average true shooting percentage since 2018-19.
“So, why would the Hawks give all this up for Siakam? He’s an excellent playmaker for his position (he averaged 5.8 assists last season) and would be no higher than second in Atlanta’s offensive pecking order. He might even be third behind both Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.”

Siakam has one year left on his contract and the Raptors are aggressively gauging his market value. The NBA champion signed a four-year, $136 million rookie contract extension with Toronto in October 2019. He will make $37.9 million next season and become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2024.
Siakam averaged 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists last season while shooting 48.0% from the field, 32.4% from beyond the arc and 77.4% from the free-throw line. He has career averages of 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists and won the 2019 championship and the 2018-19 Most Improved Player of the Year Award.
