The Golden State Warriors may have to make some changes this NBA offseason. Far be it for us to tell this organization how to do their business. The Warriors have been the dynasty of the modern era. This team knows what they’re doing.
Well, they’ve always appeared to. With that said, they had a disappointing 2022-23 season. Meanwhile, more problems have emerged for the Warriors.
This team can’t play all of their young players the minutes they need to develop. Accordingly, some of them seem to be upset. In particular, there are rumblings that Jonathan Kuminga is unhappy with the Warriors. Could they package him in a deal for Paul George?
The Trade Proposal
Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G/F Andrew Wiggins, G/F Gary Payton III, F Jonathan Kuminga, G/F Moses Moody, 2026 First-Round Pick (GSW), 2028 First-Round Pick (GSW)
Golden State Warriors Receive: G/F Paul George
The Clippers may have to make some changes as well. By contrast, this team is not beyond reproach. The Clippers set out to build a team as successful as the Warriors. So far, they’ve failed on that front.
Is that the front office’s fault? It’s hard to say. In all fairness, Kawhi Leonard and George have spent considerable time injured. That’s not on the front office.

Although, they could have anticipated the problem. Pairing two players who get hurt as often as this duo always had the potential to be dangerous. Now, we’re seeing exactly why it’s such a risk. Is this the right way to move on from George?
Why The Los Angeles Clippers Do The Deal
Scratch that. The Clippers have definitely got to make some changes. That doesn’t mean they’ve got to split up their star duo. Still, they’d have to at least consider it. At this point, it may feel like Leonard and George will never be healthy at the same time.
Still, if the Clippers are trading George, they’ll have to get a haul. He’s too valuable to give away. Luckily, that’s exactly what they’re getting here.

The deal is arguably headlined by Kuminga. Still, Wiggins can fill George’s role serviceably. Throw in two unprotected first-round picks, and the Clippers may not be able to turn this deal down. Should the Warriors make it?
Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal
The Warriors are making one more all-in push for the title here. It’s brazen. If it doesn’t work, the Warriors gave up a lot for little in return. Still, it just might be a risk they’ve got to take.
After all, George is one of the best wings in the NBA. He’s a 3-and-D who can create his own shot as well as anyone. He’d make the Warriors a much better team.

His contract also expires before Wiggins’. The Warriors avoid dealing with Kuminga’s rookie extension as well. If nothing else, this deal provides them with a little financial flexibility. In other words, it’s a change worth making.
