It finally happened. The Atlanta Hawks have finally traded John Collins. This one has been in the NBA rumor mill for as long as we can remember. Now, Collins is officially a member of the Utah Jazz. 

The return was modest. Realistically, it was practically non-existent. The Hawks moved a promising young forward for a nearly-retired Rudy Gay and a single second-round pick. 

The Hawks weren’t concerned with the return. They were concerned about getting off of Collins’ contract. This team appears to be in cap-clearing mode. 

As reported earlier by NBA insider Marc Stein, moving on from John Collins is the Hawks’ ongoing top priority. He has since been traded to the Utah Jazz.

However, De’Andre Hunter and Clint Capela are all on the trade block. With the need to clear future spending room and minutes for AJ Griffin and Onyeka Okongwu, more trades are expected.
