Portland Trail Blazers Receive: G/F Paul George 

Some will argue that none of these deals make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers. They’ll say that they ought to just trade Damian Lillard and get it over with. 

Perhaps that’s true. It’s also not the right question. Forget what Portland ought to do. What should they do if they’re determined to keep Lillard? 

They shouldn’t necessarily trade Henderson. He’s got too much potential. If Portland is moving him, they need a top-10 player in return. 

So, they need to trade Simons and change for a star wing. That’s what they’re doing in all of these proposals, and that’s what they’re doing here.

A trade with the Los Angeles Clippers to land Paul George would bring a perfect co-star for Lillard. It would allow the Blazers to be competitive next year without mortgaging their entire future. 

If all goes well, we’ll stop seeing Lillard trade proposals soon enough.
