The New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons are interested in signing combo guard Donte DiVincenzo, according to NBA insider Ian Begley of SNY.

DiVincenzo becomes an unrestricted free agent on June 30. He declined his 2023-24 player option with the Golden State Warriors.

“As SNY reported, prominent members of the Knick organization are in favor of pursuing DiVincenzo in free agency,” Begley wrote. “There is mutual interest between the Knicks and DiVincenzo. New York will have competition. Minnesota, Chicago and Detroit are among the teams with interest in DiVincenzo, as other outlets have reported.”

The 26-year-old DiVincenzo averaged 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Warriors this past season in 72 games. The NBA champion shot 43.5% from the field, 39.7% from beyond the arc and 81.7% from the free-throw line.

DiVincenzo made 150 3-pointers for the Warriors in 2022-23. He has career averages of 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists with the Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings and Warriors.

Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart played college basketball with DiVincenzo at Villanova. That could help New York sign DiVincenzo, who NBA executives believe is worth the non-taxpayer mid-level exception, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. DiVincenzo will likely be too expensive for the Warriors to re-sign.

“Within Golden State and among rival NBA executives, there’s a belief Donte DiVincenzo will decline his $4.7 million player option and will likely be too expensive for the Warriors to re-sign once he hits unrestricted free agency,” Scotto wrote.

The most the Warriors would be able to re-sign DiVincenzo for is on a four-year deal worth $23.2 million. Such a contract would come with just a $5.4 million starting salary. There is a sense around the NBA that he could command the $13.2 million non-taxpayer mid-level exception.
