With that said, the very notion of the best basketball player is a little silly. How do you measure that? 

For starters, how do you compare between eras? Sure, the late, great Wilt Chamberlain used to score 50 points per game. His competition was, to put it politely, not on today’s level. 

The late, great Bill Russell won a dozen championships – against six teams. Yet, you can’t besmirch the accomplishments of these men either. They could only dominate the era in which they lived. 

It gets even murkier. What’s more important, scoring or playmaking? Individual accolades, or team success?
