Massive 3-Team Trade

Houston Rockets Receive: G/F Joe Harris, F Royce O’Neale, 2023 First-Round Pick (No. 3 – POR)
Brooklyn Nets Receive: C Jusuf Nurkic, G/F Shaedon Sharpe, 2023 First-Round Pick (No. 4 – HOU), 2024 First-Round Pick (BKN via HOU)
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: G/F Mikal Bridges, C Nic Claxton

This deal solves a lot of problems at the same time.

Unless, of course, the Houston Rockets don’t have strong preferences in their range. If they’re content with any one of Henderson, Miller, or Thompson, they’ll pass on this one.

They shouldn’t be. This team needs a point guard. Two of those prospects are point guards. The Rockets should swing on Thompson’s tremendous upside before they settle on Miller.

Here, they’re giving the Brooklyn Nets a pick back in a bid to get their guy. That’s pivotal for this trade. Now, the Nets can afford one losing season – they’ve got a narrow window to tank.

Now, they’ll be doing so with two lottery picks in hand – whoever they take this year, and Sharpe. After making this deal, we can assume they’ll land another next year.

As for the Portland Trail Blazers, they put a bonafide contender around Damian Lillard here. That has to be an enticing possibility.
