Often, draft day deals depend on the intel that teams have about other teams. This one would be no exception. 

The Charlotte Hornets are rumored to be interested in Brandon Miller. On average, Scoot Henderson is mocked second, but the Hornets already have LaMelo Ball.

They may prefer to pair him with a sweet-shooting wing like Miller. 

This deal doesn’t guarantee them that possibility. With that said, if the Hornets knew that Amen Thompson was going third, they could get their guy and pick up a valuable asset in the process.
