Why The Phoenix Suns Do The Deal 

In all likelihood, this won’t be the only deal the Suns make this summer. 

This team is widely expected to move Deandre Ayton this summer. They probably should. By now, it seems apparent that the relationship between Ayton and the Suns has deteriorated. 

The Suns will likely trade Chris Paul as well. Even if they don’t, they need someone to replace him. That’s exactly why they’d do this deal. 

Mitchell, simply put, is better than Payne. Most notably, he’s a substantially better defender.
