Around the NBA, different teams have different priorities. Accordingly, they plan around different timelines.
There are teams that need to win an NBA title next year. Any other outcome would be a disappointment. One or more of their key players is nearing retirement – the time is now.
Other teams have less pressing needs. Some teams are rebuilding. Meanwhile, some teams have a title window that ought to be open for a few more years.
For example, the Sacramento Kings are young enough that they shouldn’t feel too much pressure.
The Phoenix Suns, by contrast, have pressing priorities. Kevin Durant won’t be around for much longer. This team is in championship-or-bust mode heading 2023-24.
Could they acquire Davion Mitchell from the Sacramento Kings as a result?
