Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal 

Perhaps. Realistically, it depends on what else the Bulls do. 

If they trade Zach LaVine and/or DeMar DeRozan, they may be tanking. In that event, Kuminga could go from an afterthought to a top offensive option. In all likelihood, the Bulls would lose a lot of games as a result. 

On the other hand, the Bulls could simply be retooling. Suppose they move DeRozan and keep LaVine. Now, Kuminga can ease into life as a real rotation player on an NBA team. 

Either way, this deal makes sense. The Bulls underperformed this year, and need to start thinking about their future.
