A number one pick in the NBA draft brings promise. Fans of the team that lands one tend to hope for a franchise player with that selection.
Often enough, they land one. Still, a number one pick does nothing to guarantee a championship. In an NBA that’s this talented, nothing can make that guarantee.
Just look at the Minnesota Timberwolves. This team has two former number-one picks.
Yet, even the combined talents of Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards haven’t been able to bring them championship glory.
Now, the Wolves are rumored to be shopping Towns. That makes sense. He didn’t look like a good fit with Rudy Gobert this season, and the Wolves would get more value for Towns than they would for Gobert.
Could they send him to the Toronto Raptors?
