Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal 

For the Warriors, this boils down to money. It’s about balancing their cap sheet. 

They’re flipping Wiggins’ contract for two smaller, shorter deals. This will make life easier on the Warriors moving forward. After all, Poole’s contract extension is about to kick in. 

Of course, one might question our logic here. If Poole is the problem, shouldn’t moving Poole be the solution? Sure – only, the Warriors won’t get this type of return for him. 

Here, they’re getting a haul. Adams and Kennard will both be valuable rotation players for the Warriors next season.

Still, the most important part of this deal for Golden State is getting control of their own 2024 first-rounder back, Throw in an extra unprotected first and a swap, and the Warriors may have to move on from Wiggins.
