Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal 

If the Sixers do lose Harden, this is a no-brainer. 

After all, they will need to replace his playmaking. DeRozan can do that. In recent years, he’s developed into one of the best playmaking forwards in the NBA. 

On the other hand, suppose the Sixers keep Harden. This deal could still make sense.

They’re compromising their floor spacing and defense, but they’d suddenly have as much combined playmaking as any team in the NBA. 

In that situation, the Sixers are taking a risk here. Still, they’re landing the best player in the deal.
