One NBA writer is proposing that the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets make a trade this summer centered around Bradley Beal.

Michael Saenz of Fansided proposed that the Rockets trade Kevin Porter Jr., Jae’Sean Tate, Kenyon Martin Jr. and two draft picks to the Wizards for Beal, who has a no-trade clause in his contract.

“Since the Houston Rockets are so set on pivoting to a win-now mentality next season, I had to include them on this list of teams that should make an offer for Bradley Beal this offseason,” Saenz wrote. “With as much young talent as the Rockets have on their roster, they could make a compelling package. To start, the Rockets should not include Jabari Smith or Jalen Green, but if they wanted they could. But I don’t see that happening.

“That said, the Rockets could still offer a competitive deal. It would start with Kevin Porter Jr., Jae’Sean Tate, Kenyon Martin Jr., and two future first-round picks. The Wizards would get three emerging young players and two future picks that could get this team on the right track when it comes to a rebuild.”

Beal signed a five-year, $251 million contract with the Wizards in July 2022. He can only be traded if he waives his no-trade clause.

A three-time All-Star, Beal averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists this season in 50 games while shooting 50.6% from the field, 36.5% from beyond the arc, and 84.2% from the free-throw line. The Wizards won only 35 games and didn’t make the playoffs.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards & Houston Rockets Updates

New Wizards president Michael Winger told Andrew Grief of the Los Angeles Times that he’s excited to have Beal on the roster.

“His former coaches, his former teammates, they all have extraordinarily high regard for him, and he is unequivocally a superstar,” Winger said. “The hardest thing to do in the NBA is acquire a superstar talent and it’s even harder to acquire superstar talent with his level of character. And so, I think it’s an extremely, extremely fortunate starting point. So to me, that’s really exciting to have somebody like Brad on the team.”
