NBA analyst Colin Cowherd doesn’t think Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray is a superstar in the NBA.

Cowherd believes Denver Broncos legend John Elway is “bigger today in Denver” than Murray.

Murray likely doesn’t care what Cowherd has to say. After all, he’s one win away from winning his first NBA title.

The Nuggets are up 3-1 on the Miami Heat in the 2023 NBA Finals, with Murray averaging 23.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 10.5 assists while shooting 46.1% from the field, 41.7% from beyond the arc and 92.9% from the free-throw line in the series.

“I imagined being here when I was very young,” Murray said. “Just having fun and making the most of the moment. Yeah, it’s been a long time. I think not just for me but for everybody — most guys that play basketball, this is where you want to be. I think we’re all just locked in and trying to get this done.”

Murray missed all of last season recovering from an ACL tear. He’s now back playing the game he loves on the NBA’s biggest stage and proving all of his doubters — Cowherd included — wrong.

“We’re just ready to win a championship,” Murray said. “We have the tools to do it. It’s been on our minds for a while. We’re just locked in. I don’t think you’ve got to overthink it. We’re just dialed in, ready to win.”

Murray averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists during the regular season. He’s putting up 26.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game in the 2023 playoffs versus the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers and Heat.

“We believed and we knew how good we were for a few years now,” Murray said. “So we’re just focused, dialed in, and ready to do this thing.”
