The Indiana Pacers may be rebuilding this NBA offseason. Just don’t count on them to rebuild for long. They rarely do.

This small market team doesn’t care for a long-term tanking process. With Tyree Haliburton giving them optimism for immediate success, expect them to be aggressive in the trade market to add talent.

Usually, the Pacers try to stay competitive. They may not be far from competing, either. Haliburton is already an elite primary playmaker. Myles Turner is a consummate 3-and-D big man. Benedict Mathurin has star upside, and Buddy Hield is already an elite shooter. 

With that said the Pacers need a starting power forward. That’s the missing piece for them. Don’t be surprised if they try to land a young one to help them take a step forward this summer. 

After promising Jalen Smith the starting four spot ahead of the 2022-23 season, he proved to be an underwhelming option. They need a more intriguing talent.
