The Cleveland Cavaliers had higher expectations than a first-round exit this summer. That’s when they were eliminated by the New York Knicks. It felt like Allen and Evan Mobley were not a good long-term pairing. 

With that in mind, Allen could hit the trade market. If he does, he could be the perfect acquisition for the Spurs. A duo of Allen and Wembanyama ought to be dominant from day one on the defensive end.

On the other hand, the Spurs could look to Allen’s pairing with Mobley and have questions. Sure, Wembanyama ought to be a better shooter than Mobley – but how much better?
